What is Whatdoc?

Whatdoc helps you make the decision of which health professional to see for musculoskeletal pains or injuries i.e. ones that affect your muscles, joints, ligaments and tendons, and bones.

It is a high level assessment tool which recommends a health professional based on your answers to a series of questions. These questions are similar to what you would normally be asked when you first see them for treatment.

Whatdoc is designed to be used in Australia and has been reviewed by Australian Health Professionals.

Why should I use Whatdoc?

1. Some health professions are more effective than others at treating certain pains or injuries.

2. Seeing the wrong health professional can cost you time and money.

3. Only 50% of people who self-diagnose actually get it right. There is a lot of information out there and it can be very confusing and difficult to get the correct advice.

A bit about me:

Hi, my name is Dan.

I am a Physiotherapist, practicing in Melbourne. After listening and empathising with my patients over the past years, they all seem to face some common problems:

1. They self-diagnose their injury and get it wrong.

2. They have previously received poor treatment or advice from a health professional.

3. They are unsure what health professional to see for the best treatment.

These problems can prevent you from receiving the correct treatment on time, which can mean a longer recovery or even worse, not fully recovering at all. It can also result in you spending extra money and time on appointments.

I have teamed up with Jeremy to help design this app to address these problems. The app has been greeted with a lot of support from my patients and colleagues across a range of health professions. I sincerely hope that Whatdoc will be able to help Australians seek better treatment and advice for their pain or injuries.

What’s next?

We have an exciting future roadmap for Whatdoc. We want to provide a seamless experience from finding out which type of health professional to see, to locating the nearest and best practice and booking an appointment with them! We will also look to expand the system to include other types of health professionals that were not covered in this release.

Important notes:

Whatdoc has been designed for use in Australia only.

Whatdoc does not offer any medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.

Always seek the advice of your health professionals with any questions about your medical condition.

Never disregard professional medical advice or delay in seeking it because of something you have read on the Whatdoc application.

If you think that you require medical emergency call 000 (or 112 from a mobile phone) NOW!

And when in doubt, call your doctor now or go to the closest emergency department.
